HISTORY OF MARKET SQUARE
In 150 years, the Market Square has been repurposed for 5 times. It was supposed to be the capital of the Republic, but was never built. It turned into a 'market place' and also, combined with the city hall. The city hall and the marktet were then relocated as there were less population in downtown. It then turned into a bus stop, which was burned down in 1960. It remained as a parking lot until 1976 and became the park we seen now in downtown Houston with Niko Niko's, dog run and shaded seatings being developed.
